Another Adventure!

A few weeks ago, Brian and I went to Petite Retreat's Island Retreat in Anacortes. Brian's been looking for some vintage items for a grocery store that Haggen is re-doing and it's been really fun going junkin' with him!!! Deb Kennedy is a wonderful, sweet friend who puts this all together with her husband Bob.
Her husband makes some unique furniture. We tried to buy both, but the table was already sold. Unfortunately, Haggen gets the other one! Aren't they fun?

It was a really fun show, right on the pier in downtown Anacortes. Beautiful day!

Last weekend was the Funky Junk Sisters show in Puyallup. Lynda, Terry, Karen and I left bright and early on Friday and headed to Centralia and Chehalis to do a little antiquing and exploring before going to the show later that night. We found some cute things and as always, had so much fun just being together! Someone offered to take our picture to document our great adventure, but we got busy and forgot about it! Lynda's always willing to sit in a rocker though, and I took advantage of that photo op!!
We went to lots of stores, but this was our favorite! Wish I could remember the name!
Loved this wall! The bunting is cut out of newspaper. I need to make one of these! And I love the FaLL letters on the wall!

Oh, there's the name! Abundance Vintage! Love the quote!

Loved this vintage nightie! Not very soft, but really cute!

We also went to a cute quilt shop and had lunch at Berry Fields in Chehalis. Great food, cute decor and very busy!!! The place to go for lunch!!

Off to Puyallup to the Funky Junk Show!! Linda and Dixie always make this such a great show and raise a lot of money for breast cancer awareness.

I like the hanging bed springs and the metal booth!
Cute displays!

Heartbreak Hotel! Isn't the heart sweet?
So many great ideas!

We ended our evening with a trip to University Village in Seattle. I loved this display at Pottery Barn...a hanging ladder filled with beauty!! If only I was willing to put some eye bolts into my ceiling!!!

Another adventure with my hubby the next day, but that will have to wait!!! On our way to Whistler for a weekend with friends...praying for some snow!!!

A special thanks to all of the wonderful men and women who so faithfully serve our great country.
May we always remember the sacrifices they make for the rest of us, every, single day.

A Trip to Stoney Ridge

Last week, Lynda invited me to go with her to Stoney Ridge. I haven't been there in years! It was so much fun...so much eye candy! And PIE!!!

If you live nearby, head on over for a visit!!

Happy Fall!!

The Garden...Save Me!!!

I know the rest of the country is suffering in horrible heat, but as many of you know, it has been a downright chilly summer here in Washington. It's a good day if we hit 70!! We had 2" of rain in three hours last week! You'd think my garden would be suffering, but surprisingly it's growing quite well...maybe too well???

This week I had to harvest my Swiss chard. I have one, thirty foot row. I took a laundry basket and filled it...three times!!! Washed, chopped, steamed and got it ready for the freezer. I make a good sized ball of it, squeezing out all the liquid, place them on cookie sheets to freeze and then bag it.Three baskets and this is the result...one large bowl of finished, freezer ready chard! It just doesn't seem right!!!

Cut a bunch of cauliflower and broccoli yesterday (more than in the picture!) and did the same thing...washed, cut, steamed and bagged! Broccoli only, the cauliflower I pickle!

The raspberries have just started and my bushes are loaded!!!! I picked 4 flats three days ago and another two yesterday. Even with all the rain, they are big, juicy and no mold!!!

These are already frozen, which is why they look a little dull! Since I grow my own and don't spray or use any chemicals in my garden, I just pick, put them on a cookie sheet and throw them in the freezer. After they are frozen I put them in quart bags. There are three more of these in the freezer!!

I'm so grateful to have all of this fresh produce! Tons of lettuce, and the beets....oh my!! So tender and yummy! Slathered with butter and salt of course!!! Busy times!! If you live nearby, your porch may have a little something on it! No Returns Please!!!!

Last Sunday, Ashleigh and I went to Alderwood Mall. We went for the Nordy anniversary sale, but deep down we wanted to check out the new American Girl store!!!! Grand Opening and very busy...to busy to stand in line and purchase, but we had fun looking!!

Ashleigh collected these dolls for years and they are such a treasure! I still order something every once in awhile!!

One of the dolls we don't have...Kit. I want her. For myself. Yes I do. Depression era is my favorite!!! I do have some of Kit's accessories and have them on display around the house!!I told Ashleigh she could get me one in my old age. You know how you see those old ladies in nursing homes holding dolls? That will be me!!!
Supposed to be sunny this weekend, so more gardening and yard work!!

The Big Day!!

The morning of the "Big Day" shone brightly!!! Guess there was a gull -washer the day before during set-up. The line wasn't too bad when we got there, but by the time the show opened there were two lines all the way to the road.
We were in line right behind Dixie and Linda, the Funky Junk Sisters. They are so fun and we had a ball hanging out with them! They were taking pictures and video and talking with EveryONE!!!
Miss Serena, the Farm Chick herself, came out and handed out flyer's and chatted with everyone. She is such a doll!! Always a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone...so thankful for people coming to her show.

One of my favorite booths, The Seven Sisters!! They are so adorable and fun!!! And, they make the BEST desserts Ever!!!

I met my blogging buddy, Erin, from "Home's Where my Heart Is". She lives in Spokane and it was such a joy to actually meet in person!!! Isn't she a doll? Wish we'd had more time to chat, but it was really hectic in there!!! Nice to meet you Erin!!

Here's Hollie and her mom, Gayle and her friend whose name I don't know!!! I've been buying from Hollie since the first F.C. show that I attended down in Fairfield. She always has great stuff and reasonable prices, plus she's a dear, sweet lady!!!! Her mom and I actually took a quilting class together at the Buggy Barn. Small world!!

This year, there was a man cave set up in the silo, complete with couches, recliners and flat screen TV's!! Great idea!

Loved these dear people as much as I loved their sign!!! I picked up their card, but can't find it now and don't remember who they were!!! Hope they are there next year though!! I bought the matching door so that I could put my own stencil on it. Not sure what it's going to say...any ideas??

Junebug Designs always has a great booth too!

Lot's of burlap this year!

Loved this!! Stencils, burlap, duck cloth...all very farmy and beachy!

It was so crowded that we only stayed until one o'clock, but we found some great things!!! We went back to the hotel and had some lunch. Then we headed to Couer d' Alene for a little adventure!!!
Stay tuned!!!

The Farm Chicks...getting there...

Heading off for a weekend of fun!!!!!

Terry, Lynda and Karen...
Myself, Lynda and Karen!!!!
Ready to go!!! Can't wait to get started!!!! We stopped in Monroe for a little break and ran into fellow "chicks"!!! Barb, my son's boss, her daughter Lisa and her friend Fran. The clerk was kind enough to take our picture!
We got some great scrap booking goodies! What a great store! Wish we had one closer.

We stopped at Apple Annie's in Cashmere and I bought a really cool Thermos...no photo. I'll tell you more about the Thermos in the next few days. It's not pretty!!
The store had a cute display in front...the only documentation of this stop!!
We had lunch at Studebaker's, a cute 50's diner attached to the store.

We also stopped at Yesteryear Quilting in Waterville. It's such a cute store. I think I have some photos of it from last year too. Terry was being funny and cute!! Got some fun 30's print fabric here.

Next stop was Davenport to see my Grammy!!
It was so great to see her!! She'll be 90 in December and is the love of my life!! I have so many wonderful memories of growing up near her and all the visits and sleepovers we had. One of these days, grammy is going to get her own post!

Looking at all the family pictures on her "picture wall". Had some good laughs over some of them!

My grammy is such a doll baby!!!! She's only about 4'10''...I feel like a giraffe next to her!!! But she's so cute and cuddly!!

All my "besties" with my grammy Helen!

She walked with us out the door and waved from the porch! Tears were flowing inside the car at this point!!!!

Thanks, my friends, for stopping for a visit with my gram...I know she loved it as much as I did!!
More Farm Chicks to come later!!!
