Valentine's Day

February 14, a date that has so many emotions associated with it. Happy, sad, lonely, together....it means many things, depending on who you ask.

What does it mean to you? I must say that it has never been that big of a deal to me. It would have been my parent's 48th wedding anniversary, if my mom had lived. I guess I always associate the day with their anniversary. I loved watching my mom get all dressed up for a special evening out with my dad. The make-up, the hair, the clothes. Back in the day it included a trip to the beauty shop...yes, shop! It was the day of girdles and nylons, sparkly jewelry and amazing shoes!

I'm not big on flowers or fighting the crowds at restaurants. I'm more of a "pizza to go and a movie at home" kind of girl. Normally this would involve my husband, but due to a new job, I'm on my own this year. I'm watching the movie and he is out for pizza with his sister!!

He did employ our son to deliver a rose and a Starbucks for me!!! The other rose is from a local church that brought them into work for all the female employees!!

Dinner for me is a big bowl of popcorn and a strawberry smoothie!!!

And it wouldn't be Valentine's Day without the movie!! I LoVe this movie!!

I was hoping to have this finished by today, but I broke the walking foot to my machine after only
1 1/2 hearts. I still don't really like it, so it will probably sit unfinished til next year!

So I leave you with an old one!!

Hope your day's been SWEET!!

  1. Humm...I like it, I think you should finish it! What colors are the wedding coming up. Can it be used outside somewhere? Just saying hearts/Weddings. Have a great day!

  2. Hey at least you get a movie... my husband isn't much of a movie watcher... we had a frozen pizza and (he) watched hockey but that's ok since I'm not big on Valentine's Day or even anniversaries. But my birthday? Well I take the WHOLE week off every July!

  3. You may find this hard to believe but I have not seen that movie. I'm going to put it on my list.
The touches of red at your place make it look like Valentine's Day everyday. As it should be!
