Heavy Metal Monday

I have an affinity for vintage tin. I don't know why, but something about it speaks to me.
I keep saying that I will share my collections with whoever wants to see them, so here goes!!!

I love my dish drainers! I wish I did something a little more creative with them, but I can't really think of anything and I had an empty wall!!! I have a few of these old pie tins, but only needed one here. I like that it says "flaky crust" on it !! Have you ever noticed how small pies were back then?? Mine are half again this size and since I'm the only pie eater in my home I've had to quit making them...because I eat them...all of them...and that's not a good thing...!
Why doesn't tea come in these any more?? Bet they'd sell a lot more!

The tins are baking powder tins. Do you think that the "aluminum free" printed on the new containers came from this?
My very creative SIL,www.aserenescene.blogspot.com, made these cute little BLOOM rocks for me. Aren't they so sweet??!!

I think the graters were my first tin purchase. I love the patina on some of these and the wording is great too. Things like, "The Wonder", "All in One", and my favorite, "3 in 1 Lightning Shredder"!!

Then, I found a cute little coffee pot!! I envisioned a prairie home with a big old cook stove in it and the coffee perking away, ready for a visit from a dear friend, or perhaps a little quilting bee! And, I must admit, freshly perked coffee from one of these is quite tasty!!
So, here's a little peek into my collection! I'll be bringing more!!!
Blessings!!

  1. Wow! You have quite a collection. I too like "old" things. I yearn for a simpler time, and life. It seems like I'm go, go, go all the time. But a little bit at a time I'm simplifying and slowing down. Thanks for sharing! Blessings!

  2. Love all of your collections. I am trying to remember who's blog I was visiting, no do not remember...but she took a dish drainer and added some pretty file folders that sit in it like plates. She was using them for her magazine clippings with decor ideas, ect. It looked really great. Love how you have all your collections. I agree with you they should sell tea in tins like that and I also can eat a whole pie if left to myself. lol. You asked about Rub n Buff. It comes in a squeeze tub, is creamy metallic. The directions just say to squeeze on your finger and rub it on then you buff it after it dries, very easy to use. The thing is I looked for this at all the craft shops I went in recently and could not find it. I finally found the one I have had for years. I am not sure if they still make it or not. But it was around for years and years so I would be surprised if it is not out there somewhere. It works great if you just want to rub a little gold on something. And I cannot believe your frogs are chirping already. I am jealous!

  4. Wow, I love your collection!! I absolutely love your idea of using the dish racks as art on the wall & that Pie Pan is a one of a kind!! I know you were displaying your coffee pots, but I just love your wine shelf you have by the under the counter cabinets! I just tonight put all my wines in a cabinet to make room for my new toy! ;)
Thanks for sharing about reading with your kiddos & what a lucky Lady you are to be married so long with beautiful children & a necklace to celebrate it!!

I just love your home with all it's vintage decor!
