May or January?

Remember all the coverage during the Olympics about the awesome, but not so conducive to winter sporting events, weather? Upper 60's, sunny, short sleeved weather??? Back in February??
That may have been the nicest weather we have all year!!
Now it's cold, rainy, haily, thundery, blustery...feels like January!! You get the picture!!
This is not a bad thing if your couches contain "humannip" like mine do. Nothing like turning on the fire, curling up with a nice book, a cup of hot tea and napping. Oh, and don't forget the rain pounding on the windows and the wind blowing like crazy. And when you (finally) wake up, what's beckoning you??? The Walton's you say??? Oh my.
It's not so bad to do this during the dreary winter months...But this is May people!!!
My lawn needs mowing, the flower beds need weeding and my vegetables need down coats!! Who wants to be outside in this stuff??? Not me...no way...give me the couch.
On to other news...
Remember my lamenting the last uniform? The last game??? The end of my son's illustrious athletic career??
Well....
He got moved up to Varsity...
More games...
More Uniforms...

He was mad at me last week and told me not to go to his game. So I didn't. (We're petty that way!)
Now they are in the play-offs and the games are loser out. Which means, if I don't drive a hundred miles tomorrow to Coupville, I may never see him play a varsity sport...ever...
So, now to see if someone can cover my shift at the library, and if they can, drive myself far, far away. To sit in the rain.
What's a mother to do???

What I thought was the last game of the season/life!!

  1. DEAR HOLLY,
I WISH I LIVED IN MAYBERRY...DO YOU THINK MAYBERRY REALLY EXISTS ANYWHERE BUT ON TELEVISION.
YOUR PROPERTY IS SO GORGEOUS...THAT IS A LOT OF WORK FOR SURE.
WE ARE A LOT A LIKE. YOU SHOULD SEE THE PICTURE OF MY DAUGHTER WHEN I TOOK HER PICTURE JUST AS SHE FINISHED HER DRIVING TEST....IT WOULD SCARE THE RUG OFF A BALD HEADED MAN. I ALWAYS WANTED TO CAPTURE THEIR FIRSTS....MY SON IS 27 YEARS OLD AND MY ONLY DAUGHTER GRADUATED TO HEAVEN OCT 23, 2009. SHE WAS 33 YEARS OLD AND PUT UP A VALIANT FIGHT AGAINST CANCER. NOW WE EXPERIENCE THE FIRST THANKSGIVING, CHRISTMAS, MOTHERS DAY......THEY CALL IT THE FIRSTS WITHOUT THEM...OF ALL THE PICTURES WE TOOK OVER THE YEARS, IT JUST DOESN'T SEEM ENOUGH NOW. MY DAUGHTER WAS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE....WE MADE CRAFTS TOGETHER, COOKED TOGETHER, AND TOOK CARE OF HER IN OUR HOME UNTIL THE LORD CAME TO GET HER. I WILL BE 55 YEARS OLD MAY 10TH. YOU CERTAINLY DON'T PLAN TO BURY YOUR CHILD. I ALWAYS PREPARED MY CHILDREN FOR EVERYTHING AND I FEEL SO SAD I COULD NOT PREPARE HER FOR WHAT HEAVEN WAS LIKE EXCEPT FOR WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS BUT I TRUST JESUS WITH ALL MY HEART.
I LOVE YOUR BLOG AND I JOINED AS A FOLLOWER AND WILL BE BACK. KEEP TAKING THOSE PICTURES.
    HUGS AND BLESSINGS

  2. I'm with you the warm weather need to come and stay. We get rain 3 days and none 2 then we go at it again. Hubs has managed to till up 1/2 our garden and hand pull out the grasses that took hold on the end with the pumpkins and squash last year. We tried just piling straw around and under them but that led to a lot of grass. I have managed to almost get 1/2 of my perennials clean up and here I sit with the sun shining. Just got home from work and wanted a little break before going out. I have a new rule I decide how much time I can afford to visit my bloggy friends and I sit my kitchen timer. We will see if that works for me or not. I hope your weather clears up soon because I know how you love to garden like we do. We will have to keep up with what we plant this year ok? Have a good week despite the rain!

  3. I like the idea of Brenda's in the last comment to set a timer for blog time...how much is enough and how much is too much?
Anyway...Holly, I got your message - next week sounds fine.
Good luck to your son this week!
