Playing Catch-up

Still have things to post from "last year" due to camera difficulties!!!! But I couldn't forget to post the finished bedroom after our attempt at board and batten. We're so happy with the way everything turned out!

Thankfully Brian enjoys this kind of work and figured out all the measurements, cutting etc. my only job is to paint, which I did grow weary of!!!

We trimmed out the window, the closet, the bathroom doors, the entry door and all the baseboards, chair rail, board and batten and crown molding. We lowered the crown molding because we had it that way before with the metal. Brian had put in an outlet and we ran rope lighting behind it. We still have to put the lights back up. I re-painted all of Ashleigh's furniture too. We love it!!!

Mid December brought TOLO and here are a few pictures of Tyler and his date, Krista. They went shopping to get the tie and the shoes to match and I think they look pretty nice!!!

Krista's parents had everyone over for pics...about 20 kids and their parents! Lots of fun!!

In November we had family photos taken by Jodi of The Snapsisters. (You can see them on my sidebar)
We haven't done this in years. I used to be so good at getting the kid's photo taken, but not lately. We had so much fun doing this and Jodi did such a great job!!
Awwwww.....me and my honey!!!! (looking older than we thought we did!!)

We brought some fun props...

had some sibling love...short lived...
and this was our Christmas picture this year.

We gave some pics as gifts, so I couldn't post them til after Christmas!!
Hope your new year is off to a good start!!!!

  1. Love how the board and batten turned out Holly! I've wanted to do that either at our house or over at the "peach palace" but have been vetoed so far.

Your family pictures are really a treasure! We haven't done that in 6 or 7 years... I think it must be time.

  2. What a handsome family! And I love the room re-do. I have some painting ahead of me again. After finishing the back bedroom/my computer room I have been on painting strike. Hubs does not paint but he has been installing the wainscoting, trim and baseboard in the kitchen/dining area and there is a lot of painting to be done. I am going to have to give up and get started on it. Have a great week!

  3. Could this family be any more precious and/or beautiful?
Drinking coffee in the rain, dressed in dark cheer.
I'm so glad they are kin.

  4. love those umbrella pics. cute! and lovely tolo pictures as well.

  5. Oh WOW, I just love your family photos! The umbrellas were a really cute idea... I wanted to invite you over to our Retreat blog to take a gander at our new house photos, Holly. You're just going to HAVE to come visit us one day and bring the camera. I have to snap your photo on our front steps.... you'll see why.... ;0) {and you might even forgive us for not moving to Lynden!}

  6. HOLLY--I’m so excited with this post--first off, you and hubby look GREAT--not old at all! The family photos are some of the cutest I’ve seen. What a great idea with the umbrellas and the red coffee cups. I really love this. The board and batten is so wonderful. I want to do this in my master bedroom someday. I wish my hubby was good at making things but alas--he is not. I am going to show the guy that does things like this for us your pics--it’s the exact look I want.
    Wonderful :)

  7. Spewing thoughts here - first thought - you guys are a seriously good looking family! love the umbrella shot so much I almost want to hang it in my house, even though I don't know you. Your husband is caaauuutte. The bedroom looks great!

  8. Those family pictures are amazing...ummm... you look older than you thought? You look about 23 in those pictures so you must have thought you were supposed to look like a teenager - ha!

I love the umbrella picture and the top one especially...but they are all wonderful.

    Happy New Year!

  9. I love your family pics! Those snapsisters are good. Your Christmas card was so nice, I loved it.
Christmas is over so maybe we can have a scrap night or a canvas night with our new family pics???

  10. I love the umbrella shot!! Beautiful, great looking family!
I wish I were a walton too! Or someone from little house on the prarie! :-)
